Pastor Matthew Schultz has been with the Immanuel family since July of 2016.
Matthew grew up in Loveland, Colorado with his parents and two brothers. He enjoyed outdoor activities and sports like downhill skiing, rock climbing, soccer and rugby.
He attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska where he received a Bachelors degree in Social Science. It is also, more importantly, where he met his wife Kristin.
Matthew and Kristin were married in 2000 and moved to St. Louis where Matthew served as a youth director for Blessed Savior Lutheran church. After helping to build and grow the youth ministry, Matthew attended Concordia Seminary to fulfill his lifelong calling of becoming a pastor.
After graduating from the seminary in 2006, Matthew, Kristin and their two children, Micah and Ella began their ministry adventure in Gladwin, Michigan at Our Savior Lutheran Church. After 5 years in Gladwin, Matthew was called to serve as a consultant for the Missouri District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis. He worked with congregations and non-profits in the St. Louis area on connecting with their communities and empowering their people to serve both in the church and in the community. He also served as pastor for two congregations in the area, helping them to re-imagine their ministry and reengage their communities.
Matthew, Kristin, Micah and Ella (and Beau, the dog) love the Capital Region, especially the beautiful setting and the outdoor activities that are so close. They live in Scotia and enjoy cooking, binge watching shows like Friends and The Grand Tour, and visiting new places.
